   Mukta — Devanagari
   ============================================================
MUKTA WAS IN THE FONT STACK AND HAD NEVER BEEN LOADED. site.css has
named it in --font-body since the beginning, but there was no
@font-face anywhere and no file on disk — so every piece of Nepali
already on the site (the rate board's छापावाल सुन and असली चाँदी) was
rendering in whatever Devanagari face the device happened to have:
Nirmala UI on Windows, Noto Sans Devanagari on Android, Devanagari
Sangam MN on iOS. Three different faces for the same words, on a site
whose Latin type is chosen to the tenth of a rem.

THE unicode-range SAVES NOTHING ON THIS SITE, AND IT IS STILL RIGHT
TO DECLARE. Measured after adding it: every page fetches Mukta in
English too, because Devanagari is genuinely everywhere —
छापावाल सुन and असली चाँदी are the metals' real names and show in
either language, two of the articles are written in Nepali, and the
language switcher labels its own option नेपाली.

Removing Mukta from an element's font stack does NOT stop the fetch:
Chromium reaches for a declared webfont whose range covers a glyph no
font in the stack has, so the label pulled the 600 weight in on a
page whose computed font-family did not mention Mukta at all. Tried
and measured; do not try it again.

So the honest position is that these ~200 kB are a cost of being a
bilingual site, and font-display: swap is what stops them blocking
any text. The range stays because it is correct, and because the day
a page really is all-Latin it will pay off.

Two weights. Mukta ships nine; the site uses Nepali for labels, the
rate board and — once the interface is translated — navigation and
body copy. 400 and 600 cover text and emphasis, and a third weight
would be another 100 kB for a distinction nothing here draws.

The range is the Devanagari block, Devanagari Extended, and the
Vedic Extensions plus the two general-punctuation marks Devanagari
text actually uses (danda ॥ lives in the main block; the ZWJ/ZWNJ at
200C-200D are what keep conjuncts joining correctly).

   Martel — Devanagari, for HEADLINES
   ============================================================
THE NEPALI SIDE WAS SETTING ITS HEADLINES IN A SANS. --font-display
was 'Zodiak', 'Mukta', Georgia — and Zodiak carries no Devanagari, so
every Nepali headline fell straight through to Mukta. Latin got a
high-contrast serif at weight 800 and Devanagari got a monolinear
humanist sans at 600, on the same line, at the same size. That is why
समुदाय never looked like it belonged next to Community.

Martel over the two obvious alternatives, and the choice was made by
rendering all three at 64px against real Zodiak rather than by
   reputation:

Rozha One is the textbook pairing for a high-contrast Latin serif
and it IS high contrast — but it renders far lighter than Zodiak
800, so the headline came out grey beside its English counterpart.

Tiro Devanagari Hindi is the best-drawn of the three and is a TEXT
face at 400. Same problem, more so.

Martel 800 matches Zodiak's colour on the page, which at display
size is what actually makes two scripts look like one typeface
family. It trades some stroke contrast for that, and the trade is
     worth it.

DEVANAGARI RANGE ONLY, so the Latin stack is untouched — Zodiak is
still first for anything it can set, and Martel is only ever reached
for glyphs Zodiak does not have. Both weights ship because .display
   uses 700 and 800 (measured: 15 elements at 700, 32 at 800).

Mukta stays, and stays in --font-body only. It is a reasonable
companion to Satoshi for running text and labels; it was never a
   companion to Zodiak.
